September 16, 2008 | Black Hills Pioneer

DEADWOOD - Today, Rep. Herseth Sandlin announced that Neighborhood Housing Services of the Black Hills is the recipient of a USDA Housing Preservation Grant in the amount of $50,000. This funding will help Neighborhood Housing Services of the Black Hills provide a variety of housing-related services to approximately 42 families.

“I've had the opportunity to visit with representatives of Neighborhood Housing Services of the Black Hills and tour their successful projects,” Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. “I can attest to the good work they are doing and with this funding, they will have more resources to aid them in their efforts to provide affordable housing services to families in need across the Black Hills.”

Administered by USDA Rural Development, the Housing Preservation Grant program supports efforts of organizations like Neighborhood Housing Services who assist eligible homeowners by providing low cost, high quality and timely repairs as well as other housing services such as providing available loan and grant information and construction consulting.
